Often called “the best production cruising boat ever made”, this pioneering yacht (designed by Doug Peterson and built by Jack Kelly) introduced the concept of “performance cruising” with an ideal, fast boat that sails well in any wind.  Sturdy, easy to handle, and with great interior space it is extremely livable – be it dockside or while cruising.

FEATURES: This boat, Pu’uhonu (“place of refuge”) has entirely new standing rigging, new chain plates, repainted mast and boom (October 2006); new glass-mat batteries and rebuilt and newly-wired windlass (March 2006) and gorgeous brightwork.  Roller furling jib and main make this boat a snap to sail.  The slip may convey to a qualified buyer.

GALLEY: • Force 10 3-burner propane stove with oven • Refrigerator and separate freezer • Microwave • Electric toaster • Electric coffee maker • Double deep SS sinks • Hot and cold pressure water • Fresh and salt-water foot pumps • New Force 10 gas barbeque (October 2006) • Generous counter space and lots of drawers and cabinets!

ELECTRONICS: 12 volt and 110 systems • 4 new AGM Lifeline house batteries: 440 amp-hours (new March 2006) • 1 new AGM Lifeline starting battery (new March 2006) • Heart Freedom 10W Link 2000 charger/invertor • Wagner MP 120 Autopilot • Brooks and Gatehouse Depth, Knot, Windspeed and Windpoint • Raytheon RL70 24nm radar, chartplotter and GPS • Ray Nav 570 loran • Ritchie 5” compass • Horizon Eclipse VHF • AM/FM radio and CD player, IPod ready.

ACCOMMODATIONS:  Sleeps 6-7 • Double V-berth • Convertible Dinette berth • Starboard settee berth • Aft stateroom with queen-size berth • Forward head with shower and electric toilet • Aft head with electric toilet • Galley and nav station.

STORAGE:  The Peterson provides an incredible amount of storage space, cabinets lockers and drawers throughout!

RIGGING• All new standing rigging (October 2006) • New Chain plates (October 2006) • New running rigging for main (October 2006) • Mast and boom repainted  LP (October 2006) • Mast rewired: new tricolor LED running lights (October 2006) • New Spreader lights (October 2006) • Roller furling main sail • Roller furling jib • New stainless-steel mast pulpits (not installed) • Harken backstay adjuster • Winches are Lewmar with (2)#55 self-tailing primaries, (2) # 34 self-tailing secondaries, (1) #44 self-tailing main sheet, and (2) #25 halyard winches.

ON DECK: • Rebuilt Simpson-Lawrence Windlass, new wiring to windlass (March 2006) • Old teak decks removed and replaced with grey non-skid (2002) • CRQ 40 lb anchor, 150’ chain • Dark blue hatch, winch, grabrail and cockpit coaming covers • Inflatable dinghy with outboard

ADDITIONAL:  New aluminum fuel tank on starboard side (2002) • Max prop • Reinforced beam under foredeck for staysail.

Only 200 of these boats were made and they are now found all over the world.  The Peterson’s enjoy a great following, supported by a lively web listserve (www.kp44.org) that keeps all owners in touch. Very few blue water yachts are in the same league as the Peterson.  A true classic and a pleasure to own and sail.
