About Tulum III
We are the second owners of this 1979 Kelly Peterson, Tululm III.
Style and elegance describe this long distance cruising boat.
Some of her best standard and custom-added features are:
- The below deck teak is warm and inviting to live in.
- The bow is raised to give extra storage below the bunks.
- The stern cabin ladder has been incorporated into a teak locker.
- The inner forestay has been reinforeced with a stainless steel plate.
- A 10x10 opening hatch has been added over the galley.
- A stainless steel rod has been added to reinforce the Profurl roller furling jib.
- A stainless steel radar arch with dingey davits. Two solar panels top that radar arch with the Raytheon radar.
- Two mast pulpits.
- A teak/stainless steel boom gallows
- On the stern there is a permanently attached foldup stainless steel ladder, and steps.
- The decks are fiberglass.
- Two CQR anchors are on the bow with heavily beefed up stainless rollers. 300 feet chain (see the pictures).
- The stern has two Danforths.
- Maxwell Electric 2200 Windlass
- Autohelm windvane.
- Coursemaster(heavy duty) autopilot.
Sail and Sailing Gear
- Profurl roller reefing jib.
- Light air red crusing sail in a sock.
- Mainsail.
- Inner forestay jib.
- Spinnaker pole mounted on main mast.
- Mast steps from deck to top of mast
- Two main winches are Lewmar 55's with three smaller ones.
Galley:
- Three burner propane stove with oven.
- Refrigerator and freezer with an engine driven compressor
- 110 VAC Microwave.
- Foot pressure salt and fresh water pumps.
- Good counter space.
- Two deep stainless steel sinks.
- Two Propane bottles for 4-5 months of cooking time.
- BBQ.
Engine and Generator
- Engine is a Westerbeke, 60 Horse. Fran filters.
- Kabota generator in engine room with a refrigeration compressor mounted on it.
- Also a 180 amp alternator on the Kabota.
Electronics:
- Trace Inverter, 2500W
- Forward seeking sonar
- Depth Gauge.
- Below deck fans.
- All lights below deck are halogen.
- Tricolor Mast Headlite.
Other:
- 12 volt watermaker, a Little Wonder by Village Marine.
- 6-man Beauford Liferaft. Suntarp that covers the boat.
- A full Sunbrella dodger with plexiglass windows and sides that roll up and down.
